Board and Committee Service
Back to Volunteer Service Levels Pyramid
When you serve on the board or committee of a nonprofit organization, you become a premier ambassador for that agency.
Board and committee members have a significant impact on the organizations and communities they serve.
Along with helping to make decisions, board members help agencies reach out to the community to advocate for causes and raise funds.
Some items to think about before joining a board are:
- The amount of time you are willing and able to commit
- How well you understand and believe in the mission of the organization
- If you feel comfortable speaking up about your own opinions and listening to those of others
- If you have the capacity to support a board decision you disagree with
