"Engage Their Brains!"
Attention educators and parents of struggling readers! Join a FREE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP in Grand Rapids, hosted by the Specialized Language Development (SLD) Center.
"Brain-based education is the engagement of strategies based on principals derived from an understanding of the brain." (Jensen, 2005)
This two-hour session will cover the topics of brain-based education, neuroplasticity and why reading is not a natural act for the brain. It is a concise, timed process involving many areas of the brain. In order to be an effective, efficient reader, this process needs to be automatic. Reading problems can occur when there is a miscommunication or misfire in the brain.
Research indicates that incorporating a multi sensory approach into any learning environment helps ensure success for students by teaching to their preferred modality. We will share ideas and inexpensive materials to use in your classroom or at home!
