Five Area Organizations Seek to Add Diversity to Boards and Committees

Several organizations recently asked the Volunteer Center for help in recruiting diverse board members and key volunteers. Maybe you are the person with the passion and skills they are looking for!

Paws With a Cause is specifically looking to add diversity and and people with a passion to be a board member for their organization.  You may contact one of their executive board members to express interest.  Email godwinjose1969@yahoo.com or call 616-204-4936.

Oakdale Neighbors, www.oakdaleneighbors.org, would like their board  to better reflect the people who live, work, and worship in the neighborhood. They would like to recruit individuals who live in the area roughly bounded by Giddings Avenue SE (east), Eastern Avenue SE (west), Griggs Street SE or Burton Street SE (south), and Hall Street SE (north).  They would especially appreciate applicants of  color, women, and people under age 40. Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan is seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds for key volunteer positions.  Contact Jim Norton at 616-774-7005, EXT 3118.

The Salvation Army has started a new Action Group as a sub-committee of our Advisory Board. They would love to have a few Project Blueprint participants join the Action Group. The Action Group is made up of young professionals and college students in the community, with the goal to expand the volunteer base and build connections to younger generations.
