Join us for the Day of Caring!
What better way to recognize the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 than spend the day helping the community? The United Way Day of Caring was created as a national day of action in honor of the victims of 9/11, thus the date of the one-day volunteer event this year, 9/9/11.
Last year we had 1,600 volunteers on the Day of Caring from 45 companies that run United Way worlplace campaigns. These volunteers from our workplace campaigns gave a total of 5000 hours of service, completing 79 projects.
This year we have 105 volunteer projects around Greater Grand Rapids to choose from. They range from skilled projects like holding a focus group at Safe Haven around the topic of creating a safe workplace, to getting dirty doing grounds work at Blandford Nature Center. The projects are all either morning or afternoon.
If your employer is involved in a United Way workplace campaign, talk your boss into sending a team of coworkers to participate, give back to the community and LIVE UNITED!
