Live United Awards 2009
The "Live United Awards," are presented each year after the United Way campaign. This year the awards were presented on February 11, 2010 at the Grand Rapids Civic Theater.
The Community Builder award was to presented to Amway, honoring the company’s commitment to building a stronger community through work on volunteer projects like Schools of Hope.
Steelcase was honored with the Spirit of Volunteerism award for its outstanding dedication to the United Way’s Day of Caring, in which the company shared over 2300 employees with the community.
The Join Hands award was given three companies: Bissell, Foremost/Farmers Insurance, and North American Fuel Systems Remanufacturing, in recognition of their work on three of the Day of Caring’s most ambitious projects. Bissell created a 10’ x 80’ mural on one of the walls within Lincoln School. Foremost/Farmers, also at Lincoln School, completed two large-scale landscaping projects that added much needed curb appeal. The volunteers from North American Fuel painted the home of a Catholic Charities client.
