Stuff the Bus for Grand Rapids' Kids
Help collect school supplies for Grand Rapids Public School students. Children look forward to the start of the school year and arriving with new notebooks, pencils and markers. But it's a different story for families who can't afford these items. In the Grand Rapids Public Schools 85% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, meaning their parents often cannot provide needed school supplies.
Join United Way's Schools of Hope as we stuff a Grand Rapids school bus with enough new school supplies to provide children in need with a fresh start for the school year. Stuff the Bus is a community-wide collection of school supplies for students in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Opportunities for the community to donate include:
Aug 15th West Michigan Whitecaps vs. South Bend Silver Hawks, fans who donate a school supply for Stuff the Bus receive $1.50 off the price of a reserved ticket for the Aug. 15th or 16th game.
Mercantile Bank, 310 Leonard NW and United Way, 118 Commerce SW are public drop off locations for Stuff the Bus donations from August 16 to September 9.
Stuff the Bus is sponsored by Heart of West Michigan United Way Schools of Hope and partners such as Cascade Engineering, Eaton Aerospace, Feyen Zylstra, Grand Valley State University, Kimberly-Clark, Lake Michigan Credit Union, Mercantile Bank, and the West Michigan White Caps.

Lined paper
Hand sanitizer
Pencils
Glue sticks
Markers
Crayons
1" x 3 ring binders
Tissues
Index cards
Folders with pockets
