One of my favorite quotes of all time is by Henry L. Doherty. He said, "Get over the idea that only children should spend their time in study. Be a student so long as you still have something to learn, and this will mean all your life." To me, this is a great sentiment of what it means to be a lifelong learner.

Last week my husband and I stopped into Schuler's books to find a gift for a friend. As I stopped and stared (and sniffed!) the beautiful candles, lotions and other fancies, I noticed that my husband had left me. After searching the different sections of books that I thought I might find him in, he was nowhere to be found. Outdoor section? Nope. History? Nope. Finally! Sitting in a fat leather chair, surrounded by "How To" books was my husband. He was sifting through the pages of a book on how to build a wood strip canoe.

"You either move forwards, or you move backwards….there is no standing still." One of the students at the organization I work for once told me this. There is such truth in this statement, don't you think?
